I would like to be clothed with God
A poem by Jean Debruyne

In the name of the Father,
My hand on the forehead.
I would like to write God over all my dreams.
I would like to mark God over all my ideas.
I would like the hand of God
to be over all my thoughts.

In the name of the Son,
My hand on the heart.
I would like to say God,
I would like to sing God
With all my words of love.
I would like to plant God
In all the gardens of my tenderness.

In the name of the Holy Spirit,
My hand which crosses
And journeys from one shoulder
To the other shoulder.
I would like to write God
All over me.
I would like to be clothed with God
From top to bottom
And from one shoulder to the other.

I would like the great wind of the Spirit
To blow from one shoulder to the other,
From one end of the world to the other
To the extremities of the earth.
